Privacy Policy

Wowie Books (GIZENO LTD, “we”) makes personalized digital storybooks. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us, and the choices you have. Our service is meant for parents, grandparents and other adults. It is not directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
What we collect
- About you: your email address, and for gifts your name and relationship to the child. If you buy, our payment processor collects your payment details; we never see or store your full card number. If you order a hardcover, we collect the shipping name and address.
- About the child, from you: the details you enter in our quiz so the book looks and feels like them: first name, age, gender (optional), appearance (skin tone, hair, eyes, glasses and similar details), family members' nicknames, a favorite toy or pet, interests, the story theme you choose and, only if you choose to add one, a photo of the child.
- Automatically: basic technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, used to run, secure and improve the site.
We do not ask for last names, birthdates or addresses of children. A photo of the child is optional: if you add one, you confirm you are the child's parent or guardian or have their permission. It is sent once to our illustration provider (Google) to draw the book's cover and is then discarded. We do not save it on our servers or in your browser, and we never use it for advertising or to train AI models. Under its paid API terms, the provider does not use it to improve its products and may keep it for a limited time for abuse monitoring before deleting it. Our providers may process data outside the European Union, under standard contractual safeguards. You can always describe the child's look in words instead.
How we use it
- To create your free preview and, if you buy, the full book, and to print and ship it if you order a hardcover.
- To email you your book and order updates, and tips and special offers only if you tick the box asking for them.
- To provide support, process refunds and remakes, and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To show a short “A new book was just created” note on our home page. Only the story theme and how long ago are shown, never the child's name, photo or location.
Who helps us
We share information only with service providers who process it for us under contract, to deliver the service:
- AI providers that generate the illustrations and story text (such as Google, ByteDance, OpenAI and Anthropic).
- Stripe, which processes payments.
- Lulu Press, which prints and ships hardcover books (it receives the book file and the shipping address).
- Our hosting, file storage and email delivery providers.
We do not sell your or your child's personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users.
How long we keep it
- Previews that aren't purchased are deleted within 30 days.
- Purchased books are kept for 12 months so you can download them again, then deleted. Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting laws require.
- You can ask us to delete everything sooner (see below).
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails with the link in any email. Order emails will still arrive.
- Ask us to access, correct or delete your information or your child's information by emailing team@wowiebooks.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
- Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws have the right to know, access, correct and delete their personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing (we don't sell or share it). We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
Data controller and legal bases (GDPR)
GIZENO LTD is established in Cyprus, in the European Union, and is the controller of your personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We process data:
- to create and deliver your preview and book, because you asked us to (performance of a contract);
- to send tips and offers, based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time;
- to keep the service secure and prevent abuse, based on our legitimate interests;
- to keep order and tax records, because the law requires it.
Some of our service providers are in the United States. When your data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Email team@wowiebooks.com to use them. You can also complain to the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection in Cyprus (dataprotection.gov.cy) or to the authority where you live.
Children's privacy
Our site is for adults. Information about a child is entered by a parent or another adult who has permission to share it, only to create that child's book. If you believe a child has given us information directly, email team@wowiebooks.com and we will delete it.
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls and trusted providers to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep your family's details safe.
Cookies
We use only what the site needs to work, such as remembering your quiz answers on your own device. If we add analytics or advertising tools, we will update this policy first.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for important changes, email you.
